About Me
¡Hola! My name is Dr. Yanira Hernandez, EdD, LCSW, PPSC and I am the CEO and Founder of Pa'lante Therapy, Inc. I am a Latina (Mexicana) therapist and overall, a proud Brown gal. I founded Pa'lante Therapy, Inc. with my gente in mind.
I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Women's Studies and Education Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). I earned my Master's degree in Social Work and Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Educational Psychology from the University of Southern California (USC). I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC).
I am a bilingual (trilingual if we include Spanglish), bicultural therapist who has provided mental health services in hospital, community mental health, and school-based settings to BIPOC communities since 2011. I provide cultural responsive therapy and practice through trauma-informed, anti-oppressive lenses. As a daughter of hard working class immigrants from Mexico and as a First-Gen college graduate/professional from South Los Angeles, I not only empathize with my clients but I am also committed to decolonizing therapy and mental health practices through healing and education. In addition to providing therapy, I am an educator and provide support to First-Gen Latinx college/graduate students through mentorship including training and supervising master-level trainees.
When I am not busy in my office, I am enjoying quality time with my fiancé, family, and amigxs. My super powers also include weight-lifting, traveling, dancing, and indulging in morning cafecito!
... y como dice nuestra gente, siempre Pa'lante!
